What is AetherRuin and how does it work?
AetherRuin is a Bring-Your-Own-Cloud (BYOC) game server control plane. Instead of renting overpriced, multi-tenant servers from traditional hosts, AetherRuin connects to your own AWS account via a securely scoped CloudFormation role and provisions dedicated EC2 instances with persistent EBS storage and automated S3 backups in under 3 minutes.
Is AetherRuin free during Early Access?
Yes. AetherRuin charges $0 platform fees during Early Access with all core features unlocked and no credit card required. You only pay raw infrastructure costs directly to your cloud provider (typically $0.02 - $0.08 per hour, or $0 when using AWS New Account promotional credits).
How does AetherRuin connect to my AWS account without sharing passwords?
AetherRuin uses AWS CloudFormation to create a dedicated, least-privilege IAM role with an sts:AssumeRole trust policy and a unique ExternalId. No static root credentials, passwords, or long-lived secret keys are ever shared or stored.
What Minecraft server software and games are supported?
AetherRuin supports Minecraft Java Edition (Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Vanilla), Bedrock crossplay via GeyserMC, and upcoming dedicated servers for Palworld, Terraria, Valheim, Rust, and Don't Starve Together.
Which AWS cloud regions can I deploy my game server in?
AetherRuin currently supports 7 low-latency AWS regions: US East (N. Virginia us-east-1, Ohio us-east-2), US West (N. California us-west-1, Oregon us-west-2), Europe (Ireland eu-west-1), and Asia Pacific (Singapore ap-southeast-1, Mumbai ap-south-1).
Can friends access the server console without my AWS login?
Yes. Server operators and friends can be invited to your AetherRuin workspace to monitor server status, check who is online, and execute commands through the live web console without needing any AWS console permissions.
